What I always do is show them what they are currently doing and ask the question, "how can we achieve a greater result?" It's about making them feel bad for what they're doing, it's about raising everyone on the team up to think of ways to achieve a higher performance...

If you have the vision and know how to get there you need to educate the team on the best practices for getting there the right way. Using some of the techniques I shared in today's column can definitely help you get there...

Remember, it's not about making feel as if they are doing wrong. It's about educating them on better ways to do what they are already doing. You need to exercise a great deal of patience, you need to listen and you need to explain thoroughly. Don't assume they see the same vision you do. Help lead them to where you are and you'll find buy-in to be a lot easier :)

I get the idea of strategy, but can’t we just have a strategy for a tactic? For example, can I not have a direct mail strategy or an email strategy? Why do I need to have an overarching strategy with tactics and consider the objectives? There seems to be some confusion among professionals on where strategy should begin.
