Overheard outside the Westin: Delegates lament media "sneaking in" to the #PM's upcoming speech to the Natl Fish & Wildlife Conference.
The speech in question is, in fact, open to the media, for the record. (Also, some of us don't have cameras!) #PM
The PMO advisory also notes that camera lenses "up to 50 feet" may be needed to cover this event. So -- no spontaneous media/#PM hugs.
In any case, I'm currently hanging out in a hallway, a floor away from the venue where the #PM will speak at 7pm.
That is, unless he's late. But his office is right across the street, so I don't see how that could happen. #PM
The official pre-#PM bomb sniffer dog has arrived! Unfortunately, it scampered by too quickly for me to snap a pic.
And the #PM event is now underway - he's being introduced as we speak. So he's on time!
But first, we're going to get a brief history of the #PM's path to a strong, stable national majority, courtesy of our MC.
Shoutout to the "badly flawed and much maligned" gun registry, and the #PM's abolition thereof!
And a standing ovaiton as the #PM enters the room.
Also, apparently there are wildlife scientists and researchers right here in the room with us! #PM
The #PM reminds the room that Conservatives are the original conservationalists, and points to "well chosen" partners like Ducks Unlimited.
Also, the Nature Conservancy of Canada - another member of the "small battalion" of groups. #PM
Oh, and apparently, Fisheries Minister Keith Ashfield and Environment Minister Peter Kent will *also* be speaking at this conference. #PM
Which I'm sure delegates appreciate, but really, if you go by applause, the now abolished gun registry is the big winner here. #PM
