OK, I think we’re ready to begin…let’s start with some brief introductions. I’m Ruth Dunley from Postmedia Digital and I’m chatting today with three journalists who are keeping a close eye on the Senate story: Mark Kennedy, parliamentary bureau chief for Postmedia News; Michael Den Tandt, national columnist for Postmedia News; and Kate Heartfield, editorial pages editor of the Ottawa Citizen. Welcome again, everyone.
by Ruth Dunley 10/25/2013 4:59:29 PM
Sen. Pam Wallin just now in Senate told her Senate colleagues she thinks "the majority (in the Senate) want to put my head on a platter."
by mdentandt 10/25/2013 4:59:30 PM
Mark, as our parliamentary bureau chief, could you start us off with a quick recap of what happened this morning? (And Michael and Kate, feel free to chime in on this, too…the story is unfolding as we speak) (type?)…
by Ruth Dunley 10/25/2013 4:59:58 PM
by mdentandt 10/25/2013 5:00:03 PM
...as Michael just pointed out....

Quite the political spectacle. Sen. Pamela Wallin is on her feet pleading with her fellow senators to respect due process and the rule of law and not act as executioners -- and put her "head on a platter -- in advance of the results of an RCMP investigation.
by Mark Kennedy 10/25/2013 5:01:34 PM
Wallin has just finished her address to the Senate. Where it goes from here is anyone's guess.
by Mark Kennedy 10/25/2013 5:02:39 PM
Panel, I’m wondering if can you put all this in context for us? We’re watching an extraordinary political drama (John Ivison called it “Shakespearean”) play out — you’re all veteran Hill watchers: is this like anything at all that you’ve seen in the past?
