Had an interesting discussion with Josh Johnson's agent on the radio this morning. He appeared to muse about the possibility of his client, who is eligible for free agency, being flipped.

The Blue Jays were one of 20 teams with an interest in Johnson - not kidding - and even johnson's agent said the Jays would have been in the bottom third of the teams interested. Reyes ... Oops. Quick finger. Hechevarria will be the player in this trade we'll be talking about in five years. Short-term? It addresses almost all of the Blue Jays needs.

Seriously. Reyes' history would concern me on turf. Same with Emilio Bonifacio. Johnson, Buehrle are horses and Johnson is motivated as he's in a walk year. Of course, as we saw this year, young pitchers can get hurt just as well. If you're worried about injuries, might as well find another sport.

are the blue jays done making moves, or are we going to see one or more of these catchers move?

phatty, they will continue to look to add pitching. but i would be surprised if they'd move a catcher, I think Buck's acquisition means Travis D'Arnaud is likely to start the year in Triple-A, which is good. Buck is no longer an everyday catcher; Arencibia will be moved but only in a very significant acquisition. I think he's the Opening Day starter behind the plate.

What implications will the trade have on the managerial search? Is it Alomar Jr, Wakamatsu, Williams or someone else with major league experience?

It has no implications on the managerial search. The needs would have to be filled regardless of who was running the team and Anthopoulos has already said he's looking for somebody with experience. if anything it might make the team more attractive.

Jeff: What did the Jays give up in terms of minor league depth by moving Justin Nicolino and Jake Marisnick? Two of their top 5 prospects? Two of their top 10?

Nicolino is considered the second best of their top three pitching prospects, behind Noah Syndergaard (Pat Hentgen says Syndergaard reminds him of Chris Carpenter) and ahead of Aaron Sanchez. Marisnick can be a stud corner outfielder.
