Lots going on, here we go...

I'm on board with trading Elvis in the right deal -- for those who are curious, he has far more trade value than Ian Kinsler -- but the Rangers don't see Upton as the guy to trade for, and I think they are probably correct. I'm OK with Texas going forward with basically what they have after getting Pierzynski, which fixed both the catching issue and the lack of left-handed bat problem after losing Hamilton. I don't think they are going to get Price off Tampa Bay's roster. The Rays, almost magically given how many players they've been forced to lose due to payroll the last 3-4 years, remain very much a contender as long as they have Price at No. 1.

I think it's clearly lip service. The other teams in the Cowboys' boat changed head coaches or GMs or in some cases both. Well, we know there won't be a change at GM and there's nothing to indicate he is going to pay off Jason Garrett and make him go away. That leaves us with the notion some people like -- bringing in an offensive coordinator -- which makes no sense to me whatsoever. You can look't at the Cowboys' offensive rankings in Garrett's six years as OC and HC and say he's done a pretty good job. And if you CAN'T say that, if that's not what the numbers or your eyes tell you, what's the point of keeping Garrett?

Berkman would be a fine addition although I'm not sure can do FOR Texas what he did TO Texas in the 2011 World Series. Of those three you mention, Kubel as a left-handed power bat makes sense to me as I have said here before. He comes cheaper than the other two by a considerable amount and that also makes a significant difference.

What is conservative about today's NFL? There's more passing, more passing yards than ever before. Most teams run some version of the spread offense at times. I'm not familiar with the NFL you are suggesting still exists.

I would say this about Sensabaugh. He may not be exactly what you want, but he's playing so far off the ball -- by design -- I'm not sure how he's supposed to do anything but make last-gasp tackles. No, he's not a big hitter like you will see when you watch the 49ers and a few others. But he played opposite a lot of different safeties this season. As far as hitters on defense, Bruce Carter was making plays before he got hurt, Anthony Spencer made a lot of plays. They have some hitters. They need more and they need the ones that are here (Lee specifically) to be healthy in order to have a chance.

I don't think any owner embraces the lottery until he's in it. Then you don't really have a choice. And it looks like the Mavericks are lottery-bound although it would take extraordinary luck to get the No. 1 pick. It's going to be a rough season although I thought last night for the first time Dirk Nowitzki looked about like 50 percent of the player he was a year ago. Don't see them making the playoffs right now but one hot stretch will make a difference. A very long hot stretch actually.

My guess is Elvis is in the lineup on March 31 when the Rangers and Astros celebrate my birthday. Oh, and they open the 2013 season that night as well.

That's just a bunch of stuff you are putting together to get Cousins. He may be an occasionally troubled player but he has talent, led them to a road win last night. That group isn't going to do anything for them.

I will trade Andrus and Perez for David Price. Or Andrus and Derek Holland for David Price. I don't think the Rays are doing those deals.
